Ensemble Harp Impressions

DESCRIPTION

Before being captured in writing, a musical idea can be hidden anywhere. Free and undefined, wandering through the ruins of an ancient city, breathing along with the waves of the sea, blending with the geometry of a garden, or re-emerging from a dream, only to disappear again. The dawn of humanity, a hunter contemplates the sunset by vibrating the bowstring in contact with his body to accompany a chant … or a shepherd blows a reed in imitation of a bird’s melody. These, after all, are common ancestors of the great composers of all eras. Claude Debussy maintained that there is nothing more musical than a sunset. I believe that this statement remains true today, and that the contemplation of nature will always reveal stories, large and small, that may be transformed into poetry. These 11 compositions, similar to short stories, are designed specifically for the harp through an exploration of the expressive possibilities of this instrument, with reference to its history and its importance in contemporary music.
